Salt Lake City, UT (ABC 4 News) - A winter storm is hampering travel in Northern Utah.
Salt Lake City, UT (ABC 4 News) - A winter storm is hampering travel in Northern Utah. Snowy, icy roads are causing multiple crashes on major roadways.

Snow plows are out in full force trying to keep up, but the heavy wet snow is making it difficult. Crew will be out overnight, but some neighbors will not be cleared by morning. Drivers are encouraged to leave for work early Monday morning. The commute is expected to a slow one.

Also, Salt Lake City International Airport reports the airport is open and operating, however, runways will be closed intermittently to allow for ongoing snow removal. Travelers should expect some delays, cancellations and diversions. Airport officials advise all travelers to contact carriers for statuses of individual flights.

The Salt Lake valley got anywhere between 6 to 12 inches of new snow. The good news, this storm will clear out the pollution and the ski resorts will have fresh powder.
