Mike Masse has been a musician all his life, but the latest song he posted on YouTube is the most important song he’s ever sang.
On July 4th Mike Masse's one year old son Noah got sick. He and his wife thought it was just the stomach flu, but it was much worse.
Masse said, “20 minutes after the CT scan they came back and told us they saw a tumor and I just ran out saying, ‘this isn't happening, this isn't happening.’"
The following day little Noah underwent brain surgery. Doctors found out his tumor was malignant, because the cancer was so severe doctors could only remove half of the tumor.
"They told us he needed chemo, that it was very aggressive and it doesn't have great survival rates,” said Masse.
After a lot of pacing and prayers, mike did the only thing he knew to do, he sang.
"I had to decide what to do and I am such a big Beatles fan and I’d sang “Let it Be,” back and forth from the hospital so I thought it would be a good choice."
Mike has a bit of a following online - 7 million views on his YouTube channel and over 22,000 fans. Just last month his cover songs were made available on iTunes. It was actually his distributor who realized he could turn a song into help for Noah.
"I've got all these people, all the good will out there, that listen to our music,” said Masse.
Already his fans and followers have shown their support, helping fund Noah’s care during his long road to recovery.
"We're just trying to let people know about it. If they want to help out they can,” said Masse. "Any little bit will help."
