MIDVALE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Unified Police investigate an officer involved shooting.

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday a Unified Police officer stopped a car in which 20-year-old Sergio Garcia Jr. was a passenger. As the officer was conducting the traffic stop, Garcia allegedly got out and brandished a shotgun at the officer. The officer fired multiple rounds at Garcia, but no one was hit. Garcia ran off but was found a short time later hiding next to a garage near 8050 S. Allen Street. Garcia did not turn himself over to police and officers had to release a K-9. Garcia was bit by the dog and had to be treated for minor injuries before being booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Garcia was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and numerous other charges.

This isn't the first time he's been in trouble with the law. Garcia was arrested on March 5th for the distribution of drugs. He was caught with 35 balloons of cocaine and 26 balloons of heroin. He was bailed out of jail Thursday and back in police custody Sunday.
