More than 10,500 participants and an estimated 20,000 spectators will participate in the nationally recognized race and festivities. The marathon introduced a lottery system in 2013 for the Half and Full Marathon races. Entries to experience this nationally recognized race are still available.
Registration for VIP Half and Full, charity entries as well as relay team entries are still available. Entries to the shorter distance runs such as the Kimberly Clark 5K and family-fun Granite Construction KidsK are also available.
The 26.2 race begins in Huntsville, Utah. The Full begins at 7:15 a.m. and the Half begins at 6:45 a.m. The course will work its way through Eden, around Pineview Reservoir, through Ogden Canyon and finish on Historic 25th Street in downtown Ogden. The Half Marathon begins at Pineview Reservoir and will also finish in downtown Ogden.
The Kimberly-Clark 5K will run the final 3.1 miles of the marathon course and will begin at the Ogden River Parkway trailhead on 12th Street at 7 a.m. The Granite Construction KidsK is a one-mile, family fun run in downtown Ogden.
The breathtaking course of the Zion's Bank Ogden Marathon has been nationally recognized by prestigious publications such as Runner's World, ranking the race in the top ten for beginners as well as reader's choice. Runner's World noted the race is unusually downhill, outstanding support from volunteers and sponsors, and plentiful water and aid stations through the course.
Since its inaugural 2000 run, the Zions Bank Ogden Marathon has hosted runners from all 50 states and 13 countries. A health and fitness expo will fill Ogden's Historic Union Station on Friday, May 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Ogden Marathon is USATF certified and is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
