Teen pedestrians hit by car in Layton

LAYTON, Utah (ABC 4 News) - police say two young men were hit by a car while crossing a busy Layton street early Monday morning.
LAYTON, Utah (ABC 4 News) - police say two young men were hit by a car while crossing a busy Layton street early Monday morning.

Police say the crash happened sometime before 6:40 a.m., at the intersection of Main and Church Street.

According to police, the two teens tried to cross Main Street where there is no crosswalk.

Police say the boys were wearing dark clothing and were running side by side across Main Street when they were hit by a vehicle.

Police say the impact knocked the two boys into each other, causing one of them serious injuries to his leg and head..

Police say he was transported by ambulance to Ogden Regional Medical Center.

According to police, the other boy sustained only minor scrapes.

Police say the drive of the 2005 Ford Taurus that hit the boys was a 69-year-old Layton man. He was not injured.

Police say the intersection of Main Street and Church Street was closed to northbound traffic for approximately an hour.

The accident is still under investigation; no citations have been issued.
