SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC 4 Utah) - A man is behind bars for allegedly robbing taxi cab drivers in a crime spree across downtown and Sugarhouse Friday night.
SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC 4 Utah) - A man is behind bars for allegedly robbing taxi cab drivers in a crime spree across downtown and Sugarhouse Friday night.

Lt. Scott White with Salt Lake Police said a total of six taxis from Ute Cab and Yellow Cab were targeted from 10:30 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

White said the man, dressed in all black with a black bandanna on his face, waited for customers to pay their fare then he would make his move.

"He would approach the taxis, point a gun at them and demand money," White said.

White said about half the drivers gave up their money. One driver, a woman working for Ute Cab, pressed the gas pedal when she was threatened.

"One drove away with the suspect actually still hanging and he got dragged a little bit," he said.

Authorities tracked down the suspect around 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

An officer noticed a car suspiciously following cab drivers. The officer pulled the car over and arrested Travis Patt.

Police said Patt had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and a suspended driver's license. Authorities also found cash and a gun inside Patt's car.

White credited the watchful eye of the officer for helping to put an end to taxi hold ups.

"In that short of time span to have six robberies is unusual we're fortunate that we got this guy," White said.

Patt is in Salt Lake County Jail charged with six counts of aggravated robbery.
