OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Investigators are scouring a charred Latter-day Saint Church building at 1590 East 13th Street in Ogden. Someone threw a firebomb inside the kitchen causing $1000 in damage before the fire burned out by itself.

Concern lingers in the neighborhood around this LDS Chapel as investigators continue searching for a suspect or suspects.

Someone threw a fuel filled bottle into the building sometime between 2 p.m. Sunday when the last church meetings ended and Monday at 7:30 a.m. when two maintenance workers found the damage.

The fire bomb is called a Molotov Cocktail. Ogden Fire Department spokesman Eric Bauman says the damage inside the building is isolated to the kitchen.

Neighbors say their shocked.

"Nothing like that's ever happened like that before up here before," said Robert Wahlen.

"It's a pretty quiet neighborhood. We don't have issue to my knowledge we don't have home invasions or robberies so it's unusual for something like that to happen," said Tony Audia.

Investigators say they shipped evidence to the crime lab for analysis and their waiting for results.

"It does make you nervous. You don't know if it could happen to your house," said Wahlen.
