ST. GEOREGE, Utah (ABC 4 Utah)- A five-month-old Arizona girl is now back with her family. And it’s all thanks to Utah Highway Patrol. The Amber Alert came from Yuma, Arizona last night. But police found her in Saint George. The child’s biological father allegedly took the little girl from her mother Tuesday night. He was suspected to be heading north to Montana.

So Utah Highway Patrol was on high alert and waiting.

The plea came from Yuma Police Tuesday night begging everyone to keep a lookout for five-month-old Aleeha Green.

Authorities then tracked down her non-custodial father, 47-year-old Jeff Green in Nevada at about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. He crossed the Utah-Arizona border just before 3:30pm in a truck authorities believed to be lime green with purple flames.

“He white washed his truck. He painted it white with white primer,” said Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Danny Ferguson.

Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Danny Ferguson was one of a group of officers who successfully found Green, arrested him, and took custody of baby Aleeha.

“He didn't want to harm his own daughter. He actually pulled over when he realized we were coming after him,” said Ferguson.

Green put his hands outside of his truck and surrendered.

“He had a few comments. “My life is over… what's the difference?” said Ferguson.

But most importantly, Ferguson says he was worried about the five-month-old.

“She was fine in the car seat up in the truck. She looked great actually. She was fine. She was happy,” said Ferguson.

Sergeant Ferguson thanked Green for not hurting his little girl. Something Ferguson says he rarely does to suspects. Green now sits in Washington County Jail on $100,000 federal warrant for kidnapping.
