SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah) - Simply Mac is sponsoring a free eWaste recycling event this weekend!

Tyler Dickman, the vice-president of Simply Mac, stopped by to tell us what it's all about.

If you have old computers or other electronics you need to toss be sure to come out to the Maverick Center this weekend to properly dispose of your eWaste.

1) What is eWaste? eWaste is electronic waste that includes computers, printers, fax machines, VCR & DVD players, keyboards, copiers, televisions, cell phones, scanners and cameras just to name a few.

2) What happens to your personal information on your cell phone or computer after it is dropped off?
Because they are not donating, refurbishing or selling the items all of your data is destroyed.
Once they receive your device, it's locked in a semi-trailer and driven to a certified recycle facility in the United States. There it's shredded into confetti-sized pieces.

The free eWaste Recycling event takes place May 17th and 18th from 9am to 3pm at the Maverick Center.

Located at:
3200 South Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City
