University Police say around 4 p.m. Sunday at the University Village Student Housing Complex a father stabbed his 28 year-old son multiple times in the legs, back and chest with a steak knife.
When police arrived the 60 year-old suspect took off running, but they quickly caught up with him and noticed he also had injuries.
“There is some evidence to believe they may be self-inflicted,” said Sgt. Mike Richards, University Police. “The suspect was hitting his head against a wall when the officer approached.”
Both the father and son were taken to the hospital. The son was undergoing surgery but has since been stabilized. The names of the father and son have not been released.
Police are investigating what lead up to the stabbing, but say both men are Iranian nationals. They're hoping a Farsi translator can help piece the case together.
The father has been charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
