MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 News) – The doors at Toys "R" Us opened to dozens of people pumped up for savings.

The first customers cheered as they grabbed a shopping cart and headed toward a maze of toy isles.

Nearly 2,000 people stood in line to get their hands on door buster deals. One of the first shoppers was Michelle Sessions.

“I have two girls,” she said. “I’m just shopping for my girls.”

Despite controversy over retail stores opening Thanksgiving night, shoppers showed up. Yet, not everyone was pleased to wait in line.

“Parents like me with four kids, we have to cut our holiday short to give our children a good Christmas” Tasha Kranendonk said.

Some people came with a layout of the store, but when the doors opened it was every shopper for themself.

“We divide and conquer,” Melissa Ross said. “People are getting different things.

Ross scored a deal on diapers costing $10 a box after leaving her mom and family on Thanksgiving.

“I felt guilty, but she understands,” Ross said. “This is amazing savings right here!”

The store is expecting to bring in big bucks. Black Friday is expected to earn retailers about 10% of their holiday sales.
