This is an issue that effects more than 65,000 U.S. high school graduates each year. Little to no higher education assistance is available for these students locally or nationally, and only five to ten percent of the 65,000 will attend college.

Many of these Utah students have a great desire to live the American dream and lead in our community. They are serious about pursing an education and overcome great odds to do so. This scholarship is open to them - those that have graduated from a Utah high school, been accepted into college and are enrolled in their second year.

Sonora Grill is launching the scholarship program with the Dining for Dollars event on April 11. It is a way for people to join the multi-generational force behind these promising students and truly make a difference.

Owner Steve Ballard appeared on ABC4 News to discuss the scholarship program.
