Hit the pedal for Huntsman

Salt Lake City, UT (ABC 4 News) - Entheos Academy 8th graders are riding their bikes to raise money for cancer.

In order for the 8th grade students to receive donations, they wrote letters to businesses of their choice, and then followed up with a phone call. Companies that donated $100 or more, will receive their logo on the back of the t-shirts that the students will where while riding. One teacher of the students said, "My brave 8th grade students have worked so hard to contact businesses and raise money for Huntsman Cancer Institute. I am very proud of them."

"I'm excited to ride to save cancer patients!" says one 8th grade student from Entheos. Students will ask neighbors, family, and friends for donations depending on the amount of miles that they will ride. After 6 years of doing this fundraiser, they have earned over $30,000.

Along with doing the bike ride, Entheos Academy has other fundraisers to help Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Penny Wars is a fundraiser where grades compete to get the most pennies in their bucket. Each penny counts as one point, but silver coins and dollars count negatively against the grade. From Penny Wars alone, Entheos has raised $2,010.87 this year.

They also do a fundraiser program called Locks of Love, where students, teachers, and family members are able to donate their hair. The hair, if it is at least 10 inches, will be made into wigs, which will then be given to cancer patients.
