Decorations with a cause. Now that the turkey and stuffing is all put away, many in Utah are starting to think Christmas. One West Valley man is lighting up his home this holiday season to draw a crowd, and find a cure.

Robbie Gowers started decorating his home as a hobby 6 years ago. Each Christmas, it became more elaborate and the crowds got bigger. So this year he decided to give the flashing lights and musical chords, a cause.

Gower’s neighbor, Carol Cook, is a breast cancer survivor. So he decided to raise money for the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. And he decided to represent his cause with a 20-foot snowwoman, named Betty, in a huge pink bra.

"We figure it's about 8 feet wide, we call it a quadruple double d,” Gowers said with a chuckle.

Betty is definitely an eye catcher. So how does his neighbor Carol feel about it?

"I just love Betty. With Betty's help, with Robbie’s help, with all of our help, we will cure breast cancer," she said.

Robbie is using 30,000 lights, 2,000 feet of extension cord, and a couple hundred dollars in electricity to create the display. It’s all timed to music. Their goal is to raise $2,000 for the Susan G. Komen foundation. If they can do that, Gowers will be satisfied.

"It makes it all worth it, all the long nights, I’ve been out here till 2 or 3 in the morning the last 2 weeks every night makes it all worth it," he said.

If you want to stop by and see the display, the address is 6388 S. Wakefield in West Valley. Make sure you tune in to 87.9 to hear the music. The lights will be on every night until January 1st from 6:30 to 10:00pm.
