Brandon Duncan from Duncan Plumbing talks about the new Noritz tankless water heater.
The new NRC661 is a tankless water heater that is as affordable as a conventional tank water heater. The cost of the NRC661 is about $1000. The cost of a traditional tank water heater is about $750. But, when you take into account installation, the NRC661 is less expensive and easier.
It plugs in to existing gas lines, no upgrades are needed.
It only weighs 38 pounds, so one person can install it. And, installation time is reduced down to two to three hours instead of the seven to eight hours needed with traditional tankless water heater.
In addition, homeowners will save up to 42 percent on their gas water heating bill.
Plus, consumers receive a $300 Federal Tax Credit to further cut costs and a $350 tax rebate from Questar.
So while it used to cost roughly $2,500 to $3,000 for a tankless unit in past years, the NRC661 will run about $1,900 installed, give or take.. add the tax credit and rebate, and it goes down to about $1,250 or so... a 75-gallon tank would run you about $1,300 to $1,500 installed.
Of course you'll have endless hot water with a tankless unit.
