MIDVALE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A home invasion early Saturday led police to a house where the alleged robbers were hiding, prompting a SWAT standoff.

Authorities with Unified Police said they received a call around 5:30 in the morning about a home invasion at the Country Lake Apartments in Millcreek involving several people armed with a gun.

A description of the get away car led police to a home in Midvale.

SWAT team members surrounded the home on the 300 block of West Center Street in Midvale. They used a flash bomb stun the suspects inside.

Gabriela Pelaez and her family woke up to the commotion.

“I just heard screaming and then the police telling those guys to get down,” Pelaez said.

The family and several other neighbors were forced out of their homes during the standoff

“They told us to get out because if the neighbors shoot, we might get shot,” Pelaez added.

Captain Kris Ownby with Unified Police said they arrested nine suspects, but were interviewing each one to see if they were actually involved in the home invasion robbery.

“We know they forced their way into a home, they were armed with a fire arm, and driving a vehicle that matched the description of a car here at a house in Midvale,” Ownby said. “That is what basically led to our involvement here with the SWAT team.”
