Orem teen says robbers held gun to his head

OREM, Utah (ABC 4 News) – The search is on for two men who allegedly robbed two teenagers from an Orem apartment complex Friday morning.
OREM, Utah (ABC 4 News) – The search is on for two men who allegedly robbed two teenagers from an Orem apartment complex Friday morning.

According to Orem police, the incident happened at 1040 North State Street at the Village Park Apartments.

Two men wearing black ski masks walked into an unlocked apartment. They were armed with a handgun and a knife.

Michael Mendenhall was inside the apartment with his roommate. They were woken up by the robbers who demanded money.

“They threw me on the ground and I woke up with a gun next to my head,” Mendenhall said.

The 18-year-old said one of the robbers pistol whipped him on the back of the head.

“Then he cocked the gun next to my head and had the bullet fly out to show me it was real,” he said.

Orem police said the 19-year-old roommate got into a fight with the suspect armed with a knife. The teen was cut on his hand, face and back and treated at a local hospital.

Police said they are investigating the possibility the suspects and victims may know each other.

“I’m shaken up,” Mendenhall said. “I don’t want to live here anymore.”

The two suspects are described as a young men; one with a thin build, the other a medium build. Anyone who may have saw the masked men leave the Village Park Apartments should call Orem police.
