Utah communities to observe National Night Out Against Crime

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 NEWS) - The annual Night Out Against Crime kicks off Tuesday across the state to boost crime prevention and help take back neighborhoods.
Salt Lake City, UTAH (ABC 4 NEWS) - The annual Night Out Against Crime kicks off across the state Tuesday night. Several cities are hosting the night out to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention.

The public is invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "26th Annual National Night Out Against Crime".

The event is designed to boost crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime effors, strengthen police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.

Draper, Salt Lake City, West Valley City and South Ogden will be holding events Tuesday night to name a few. Each will have events ranging from parades, safety fairs, free food, K9 demonstrations, fire prevention, gang and drug awareness to drug drop off boxes.

South Ogdens party kicks off at the 40th Street park located east of the South Ogden Police and Fire Departments from 6:00-9:00pm.

Salt Lake City residents are asked to turn on their outside lights and hold front porch vigils. Events are being held at the following locations:

1409 E. Butler Ave., 6:30-8:30 p.m.
1033 S. Lake St., 6:30-8:30 p.m.
1100 N. 2200 W., 5-8:30 p.m.
Briarcliff Ave. and Grenoble St., 5-8 p.m.
1313 W. California Ave., 5:30-9 p.m.
1185 S. Windsor St. 7-9 p.m.
2200 E. Roosevelt Ave., 7-8:30

The Draper Police Department it's night out from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Draper City Park located at 1300 East 12400 South. This event is FREE and all ages are invited to see the displays and learn how to keep their families safe.

West Valley City will host street parties throughout the City, which will include all sorts of fun activities that are spread throughout the month.
