WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting in what may be a gang related crime.

West Valley Police Lt. Lamonte Cox said bullets were fired around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near 4480 South and 3840 West.

Cox said two men believed to be driving an older green car opened fire on two men walking down the street.

The victims, a 26-year-old and a 30-year-old, were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Neighbors said one man appeared to have been shot in the leg while the other was shot in the neck and back.

Margorie Scott said she and her granddaughter had plans to go outside minutes before the shooting.

“I don’t know what would have happened if we started walking to the store,” Scott said. “We could have been in the crossfire.”

Detectives collected evidence and said they will try to get more information on the identity of the suspects from the victims in the hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley City Police.
