PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A 7-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Manila Creek Park Thursday afternoon, according to Pleasant Grove Police.

Police received a 911 call about a girl who was found unconscious and face down in a shallow part of the pond where many children play.

A woman who wished to remain anonymous said she ran to the girl’s aid and tried to perform CPR.

“The mom was frantic like any mom would be,” she said. “I started chest compressions and another mom started doing the breathing.”

She told ABC 4 News people at the pond tried to help. The mother and girl’s twin sister watched.

“There were several moms and they all just helped us,” she said. “We just worked together and tried to do our best.”

The girl was transported to a local hospital where she died.

Pleasant Grove Police do not suspect neglect, but the case remained under investigation Thursday night.

“It’s very sad that she didn’t make it,” the Good Samaritan said. “It’s tragic.”
