PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A family from Lindon is counting their blessings after their boat capsized on Utah Lake Tuesday afternoon.

Jennifer Watson and her family of eight were celebrating Pioneer Day on Utah Lake when strong winds pushed waves toward their boat. The boat started taking on water and turned over, according to Watson.

The children on board the boat were wearing life jackets, but the adults were not.

"I started taking on water and realized I didn't have a life vest on either," Watson said.

Watson said she feared her children would be in trouble after they were separated in the water.

"I just thought, 'What if I lose my family?'" Watson said with tears in her eyes.

Thanks to a group of Good Samaritans, the family was reunited at the shore.

One of the rescuers said they helped distribute life vests to the people who weren't wearing them.

Watson said her family was lucky to get help.

"I'm so grateful for such good and caring people," Watson added. "They should've been getting off the lake, but instead they were helping us."
