SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah) – The family of a Salt Lake man who died from a paragliding accident is sharing the pain of their loss. On Saturday the family is preparing to lay their brother, son, friend and former Bachelorette contestant to rest. They spoke Friday with ABC 4 Utah’s Brian Carlson.

People around the world will recognize the smile of 31 year old Eric Hill of Salt Lake City; his happy enthusiastic nature is one of the things his family now misses most.

"We never expected to lose a brother,” said Darren Hill, brother.

On Sunday Hill was critically injured in paragliding accident at the Point of the Mountain. Emergency responders airlifted him to the hospital, but he died Wednesday morning.

"He did a lot of, he did a lot of crazy things. We almost like prepped ourselves for that phone call, for him getting hurt just because of the nature of what he did, but nothing prepares you, nothing prepares you to lose a brother, especially so young, especially when there was so much life," said Darren Hill.

Friday night Reporter Brian Carlson spoke with Hill's brothers about his life. They said he was a caring, world adventurer. He had already visited more 100 countries and recently made a goal to visit all 195 UN recognized countries in record time (Go With Eric Global Odyssey). He was recently a contestant on the upcoming season of ABC's Bachelorette, but his closest friends said he was much more than that.

"He was an awesome friend, a great person and found love in everything," said Dan Spirgen, friend.

Friday some of Hill's friends gathered to celebrate their fondest memories.

"He's always so fun and just the life of the party," said Cat O’Hara, friend.

"Man, you just want to be around him," said Jekeb Hone, friend.

"He is quite possibly one of the most amazing people I've ever met," said Lindy Davis, friend.

Although it's been painful to lose him, Hill's brothers said seeing his friends' outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming.

"We got to see a lot of his really close friends visit him in the hospital and that was just incredible, for me, these guys became my family," said Scott Hill, brother.

Funeral Services for Eric Hill will be held Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m. at 1830 E. 6400 S. in Salt Lake City.
