Kim Johnson - Sunshine at Sundance Resort

I think I was one weekend too early when going to Sundance Mountain Resort for the first time. Snow fell the last two days in the mountains. I can only imagine the powdery conditions!

I made my way to Sundance the week prior. I was so impressed by the charm of the place. It has a smaller, more chalet, European feel to it than others in Utah. It seems like a perfect place for a romantic date night at one of Sundance’s restaurants.

Once on the lift, my friend and I were astounded by the views. Sundance has probably the best scenic outlooks around. It was a blue-bird, gorgeous day. We couldn’t believe how warm the sunshine felt!

I was trying to keep an open-mind about the conditions. I hadn’t heard too many stories of people having awesome ski days there because the resort gets relatively less snow. We ended up hitting a lot of icy patches. Some of the resort was even closed-off because of the ice and thin cover.

I decided I must come back and ski Sundance when there’s fresh snow. I missed my chance this week. But I’m confident others enjoyed the heck out of Sundance in my absence.
On another note, Sundance has a great deal for those looking to getaway for a weekend. You can ski for FREE if you book a stay. That’s two all-day lift passes per night booked. With that offer, it’s hard not to check out Sundance on any kind of snow day.
